- Rara Lake is the largest lake in Nepal, supporting endangered and vulnerable fauna and flora, including endemic species and supporting migratory and residential birds. The lake also supports the surrounding community, providing water for downstream communities and supporting local livelihoods. These factors led to the listing of the site as a Ramsar site, also known as a Wetland of International Importance under the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands of International Importance
